She traced a finger over the tattoos that continued across his shoulder blades. “Maybe you could get one that says ‘Here be dragons.’”

He muttered something.

“What?”

He rolled back to face her, bending one arm under his head. “I said, pirates aren’t the only ones with buried treasure.”

She curled her arm into a pillow, mirroring his stance. “I suppose you know all about booty in a casino.”

He blinked slowly. “Are we still talking about money or backsides?”

“Both, I guess. It’s just… It seems to me you have everything anyone could ever want here, all the money, all the excitement, but you don’t seem…” She bit her lip.

This was where she’d gotten into trouble with Esme and Anjali, judging Ez’s relationship with Lars, mentioning Anj’s lack of relationship with anyone. She’d driven them away with her pestering; she wasn’t going to make that same mistake with Rave.

His brow furrowed, not in anger, more questioning.
